SHMS is seeking a committed and nurturing educator to fill a full-time maternity leave position for approximately January 23, 2026 – May 15, 2026 in 8th Grade English Language Arts. The substitute will teach reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary to help students improve their skills and continue their preparation for high school. As an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) school, SHMS classrooms are student-centered. The IB philosophy places a strong emphasis on critical thinking, cooperative group work and social responsibility.

Teacher Certification or currently in progress is preferred. Experience in teaching reading writing is also preferred. Skilled and knowledgeable of best teaching practices in a 21st century classroom and dedicated to caring for all students; candidate can collaborate and communicate effectively, strong desire to learn and to implement innovative strategies, and to cultivate leadership in his/her students.
