Sacred Heart Schools (SHS) seeks a full-time Chief Maintenance Engineer. The Chief Maintenance Engineer must be highly motivated and willing to assist with the responsible operation and maintenance of SHS facilities, related systems, and grounds. In cooperation with the Director of Facilities Management, this position, develops daily and preventive work, policies, and procedures. Individual will initiate vendor projects and supervise technicians and their work for both repair and construction; be responsible for completion of departmental work orders in a timely and efficient manner; serve as a training resource to the maintenance staff; assist in summer improvement plans for SHS buildings and grounds; assist with set up/takes down of equipment (i.e., tables, chairs, tarps and platforms) for classroom use, scheduled and/or special events, meetings or other building uses; perform maintenance tasks as assigned by Director of Facilities Management, including but not limited to minor electrical, HVAC and plumbing maintenance and repair; snow removal; minor building/concrete repairs; painting; furniture assembly.

High School diploma. Knowledge and experience in facility operation and maintenance. Certifications in facilities management or maintenance preferred. Skill in visual and manual dexterity to perform specified job. Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment. Ability to make on-the-spot decisions when confronted with emergencies. Ability to quickly and accurately calculate quantities, measurements, readings, and percentages. Prolonged standing, walking, bending and stooping; lifting and carrying heavy objects on level surfaces and/or stairways; on ladders. Ability to lift 50lbs alone and over 100lbs with assistance. Ability to work in conditions exposed to weather. Valid driver’s license. Successful criminal background check. Completion of the Archdiocese Safe Environment Training within 30 days of hire.

Working Conditions
Normal work hours Monday through Friday, however, will be required to work some evenings and weekends at overtime rate of pay. Working conditions may at times include extreme heat and cold and physical hazards. Occasional use of hazardous tools and machines.
