The SHA Current World Affairs class, a junior/senior elective, students delivered Christmas gifts to two different refugee families this weekend. For this volunteer activity, students stuffed race packets to raise $500, shopped on a budget to purchase gifts for the two families, communicated a delivery date, wrapped the presents in class, and then on Saturday students delivered the gifts to the family. It was truly an eye-opening experience for the students. It made them re-evaluate their Christmas wish lists and consider what is really important. In addition, when delivering gifts, the students realized how others live, but saw joy in their lives from love and not material goods. When delivering the gifts, the students truly enjoyed interacting with the families.
