The Nutcracker is a cherished tradition for both dancers and audiences, and this year Sacred Heart School for the Arts will again present a full-length production that is sure to create treasured memories for young and old alike. Prince, Clara, dancing toys, mischievous mice, waltzing flowers and sparkling snowflakes come to life Dec. 8 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 9 and 10 at 2 p.m. and Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 16 and 17 at 2 p.m. at the Ursuline Arts Center, bldg. #5, on the Ursuline Campus at 3105 Lexington Rd. This production of The Nutcracker is a true community effort, with 52 dancers from 14 studios throughout Greater Louisville joining forces with 53 dancers from the Sacred Heart School for the Arts dance program. John McWilliams, former SHSA dancer now majoring in dance at Ohio University, will dance the role of Herr Drosselmeyer.
The production is directed by Julie McWilliams and choreographed by McWilliams and Amanda Rollins.
