Members of SHA's Community Awareness Committee loaded up a truck with more than 1,900 toys and a bit of Christmas spirit for families in Kermit, West Virginia. The toys were delivered to Christian Help, a mission founded by Sr. Brendan Conlon and Sr. Janet Marie Peterworth. The 22nd Annual Appalachian Gift Drive was held by each member of Sacred Heart Schools: Sacred Heart Academy, Sacred Heart Model School, Sacred Heart Preschool and Sacred Heart School for the Arts. The annual drive gives SHS the opportunity to demonstrate the Charism of our founding Ursuline sisters, 'A contemplative love of God and an openness and eagerness to serve the needs of others.' A special thank you to Chip Clements and Forcht Bank for their monetary donation, helping us raise over $3,000!

"I have been part of the CAC since my freshman year and every year, I continue to grow in my love for service to others. It is important to recognize we do not have to travel far to see that there is a need in our nearby community. I really hope that the students of Sacred Heart Schools will realize that when they are donating a gift, they are giving to something that is bigger than themselves. I hope the kids in Kermit can feel the compassion we have for them through the gifts we bring. We are so blessed at Sacred Heart and being able to share those blessings with others is the true gift to me," said CAC President Anna Brodzik '18.
