Sacred Heart Academy is accepting nominations for its Alumna of the Year. The 2017 recipient will be honored on February 1, 2017 during the 27th annual Alumnae Awards Celebration.
The Alumna of the Year award is presented to a Sacred Heart Academy alumna who has contributed significantly to her community and enriched the lives of those around her. As a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, the recipient's outstanding accomplishments bring distinction to the school and the strong foundation it fosters in young women.
Nominations are also being sought for the Heart Award, which is given annually to Sacred Heart Academy graduates or individuals who live out the core value of service through their contributions to SHA or in the local community. These individuals have devoted a tremendous amount of time and talent by giving selflessly to serving the needs of others.
The Ursuline Teaching Legacy Award will be presented to an alumna who has dedicated 20 or more years to teaching. This award was established in 2008 by the SHA Alumnae Board to honor the Ursuline Sisters' 150th anniversary of teaching in Louisville.
Former athletes and coaches and individuals who have been exceptionally loyal supporters of Sacred Heart Academy athletics will also be considered for induction into the Valkyrie Hall of Fame. Former athletes must be at least a 10-year graduate, performed with excellence in a varsity sport, and continue to show true sportsmanship to family and community.
Nominations are also being accepted for individuals who did not graduate from Sacred Heart Academy, but whose devotion is equal to completing the requirements for a diploma. An Honorary Diploma will be given to a man, woman, teacher, public figure or former student who attended but did not graduate from SHA.
Nominations and supporting documentation should be mailed to Nannette Mershon, SHA Alumnae Director, Sacred Heart Schools, 3177 Lexington Rd., Louisville, KY 40206 or e-mailed to email@example.com. You may also submit nominations online by visiting shslou.org/awardsnomination. Nominations must be received by October 12, 2016.
