Our Jr K program is designed for children who have been in a preschool environment for multiple years, who turn five by the December 31 and who are ready to participate in an advanced skilled Pre-Kindergarten program. The structure mirrors a Kindergarten classroom in layout, schedule and curriculum. Each child receives instruction to ensure success in reading, writing, math, music and art while bolstering a sense of self-confidence and accomplishment.
The five-day program is a collaborative effort between faculty and administrators at both Sacred Heart Preschool and Sacred Heart Model School. In a caring environment, children are guided through a developmentally appropriate curriculum that lays the foundation for a successful transition into kindergarten. Parents of JK students may choose a half-day, school-day or full-day program.
Our Junior Kindergarten teaching team includes a published author with a bachelor’s degree and a Kentucky certified teacher with a master’s degree. Continuing education is required of all teachers.
Our unique JK program provides a learning experience that meets the individual needs of children academically, socially and emotionally. Taught in small groups, theme-based units of learning include:
- HANDWRITING WITHOUT TEARS
- TEACHING STRATEGIES GOLD
- LANGUAGE ARTS
- MULTI-CULTURAL SOCIAL STUDIES
