International Baccalaureate World School (IB)
Sacred Heart Model School is the first Catholic and private school in Kentucky to achieve certification as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme school (grades 6-8). The IB program has a reputation of maintaining high academic standards, arming students with the skills they need to be life-long learners in a globalized world. It encourages students to make connections between traditional subjects and the real world. It develops young people who are active, knowledgeable and caring
As a Middle Year IB school, students are prepared for high school and beyond. IB helps students become creative, critical and reflective thinkers. It requires regular collaboration between all teachers across all subject areas. This curriculum encourages students across the world to become active, compassionate learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right. The IB Organization, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, oversees the program of international education and assessment. Student outcomes are assessed against established criteria, not against the work of other students.
