Dr. Cynthia R. Crabtree, current President of Sacred Heart Schools announced her retirement effective June 2020. For the last 16 years, Dr. Crabtree has embraced the legacy of the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville and put the success of the school community’s young people first.

 

As we celebrate Dr. Crabtree over the next year and honor her countless accomplishments, the members of the Board of Trustees will be prayerful and diligent in our work to find the next President of Sacred Heart Schools. The search for our next leader has already begun with the selection of a search committee and hiring of executive search firm Carney Sandoe & Associates to lead the process.

 

Sacred Heart Schools, a Catholic community rooted in the Ursuline tradition, is guided by the mission to inspire diverse learners to become globally minded, compassionate leaders. The next president will be an individual committed to the Ursuline Core Values of Community, Reverence, Service and Leadership and our vision to be an internationally recognized system of Catholic schools that inspires students, empowers faculty and transforms the world.

 

The search committee will be led by Charles Paradis, a member of the Board of Trustees, chair of the governance committee and V.P., Human Resources & Compliance at Bramco, Inc.

How will the search be managed?

The Board of Trustees is responsible for advising the Ursuline Sisters in selecting and hiring the next President of Sacred Heart Schools. To facilitate the search process, the Board created a Search Committee that will recommend a President candidate to the Board, who in turn will recommend an approved candidate to the Ursuline Sisters. Recognizing that selecting our next leader is a critical milestone for the Schools, the Board has engaged Carney, Sandoe & Associates, a leading national search firm, to serve as consultants to the Search Committee throughout the process. The firm, which has led hundreds of national searches for independent schools across the country, will assist the Search Committee in managing the search process from start to finish.

The Search Committee will ultimately make a recommendation to the full Board of Trustees for vote and approval, who will then make the recommendation to the Ursuline Sisters for final approval. 

  

How will the community be involved in the process?

The Search Committee is committed to an inclusive and thorough process and intends to engage all School's constituencies:

Faculty and Staff:
Faculty and staff will have the opportunity to share their input with the search firm through scheduled meetings, an online questionnaire and direct communication with the co-chairs and search firm consultants as desired.

Parents:
Parents will have the opportunity to share their input with the search firm through scheduled meetings, an online questionnaire and direct communication with the co-chairs and search firm consultants as desired.

Students:
Students will have an opportunity to share their input with the search firm whether that be through group or individual conversations or an online questionnaire.

Alumni:
Alumni will have the opportunity to share their input with the search firm through scheduled meetings, online questionnaire and direct communication with the co-chairs and search firm consultants as desired.

  

What is the role of the Board of Trustees?

The Board of Trustees has a set of defined responsibilities which includes but is not limited to setting the mission and strategic goals of the Schools and general educational policies. The Board is also responsible for recommending the next President of Sacred Heart Schools to the Ursuline Sisters.

To facilitate the search process, the Board created a Search Committee that will recommend a President candidate to the Board.
