Description
The primary responsibility will be to identify and engage major gift prospects and donors capable of making gifts of five, six or seven figures; this includes donors in the early stages of cultivation or have a limited relationship with Sacred Heart Schools.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participates in activities that help build a faith community on the campus.

• Be a role model of the Ursuline core values of Leadership, Reverence, Community and Service in all
aspects of school and personal life.

• Implements fundraising strategies as it relates to major gifts, including qualification, assessment, and
cultivation of donors.

• Develops and manages a donor prospect portfolio of 150-200 individuals capable of making a major gift.
Make at least 12 -15 substantive contacts/visits per month that qualify as a significant move to advance
the relationship.

• Successfully achieves quantifiable goals, including number of personal visits, major gifts proposals
submitted, major gifts closed and dollars raised. The goal for dollars raised will be determined annually
with the consultation of the Vice President for Advancement and based on portfolio and pipeline review.

• Documents contacts and strategies as outlined in the SHS Major Gifts Plan. Adheres to the policies and
procedures for accepting, recording and acknowledging gifts.

• Creates effective correspondence, proposals and marketing tools for asks.

• Participates as a member of the Institutional Advancement team, attending weekly staff meetings,
professional development and team events.

• Commitment to working as part of the development team and assisting with alumnae(i) events, Interlude
(campus wide dinner/auction) and major gifts efforts.

• Abides by the policies and guidelines contained in the SHS Human Resource Policy Manual.

Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Significant travel required.
• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Minimum of five years of experience identifying, cultivating and soliciting major gifts in education or non-
profit fundraising.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of fundraising databases and Microsoft
Office.
• Strong organizational skills; attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimum
supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Relationship building and volunteer management.
• Strong interpersonal and planning skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and people and prioritize and self-direct work flow.
• Blackbaud/Raiser’s Edge software experience preferred.
• Ability to work well both independently and on a team.
• Required within the first 30 days of employment to complete Safe Environment Training through the
Archdiocese of Louisville.
