The SHP Toddler curriculum centers on principles of early childhood education, combining aspects of both the Montessori and Progressive methods. Faculty and staff work together to foster the growth and education of each child in preparation for an easy transition to our Montessori and Progressive programs at age 3. Children age 1-2 are interested in the world around them and learn by observation, exploration and experimentation.
The Toddler curriculum includes math, language arts, science, an adaptation of Handwriting Without Tears activities for toddlers, Spanish, music, art, creative movement and plenty of time for play and socialization. At the heart of the Toddler experience is the development of your child’s independence, gross and fine motor skills, and building self-esteem. Our playground provides a safe place for outdoor fun.
Toddler teachers have a Child Development Associate credential, Montessori certificate, associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree in education or related field. Continuing education is required of all faculty.
